May 11, 2017
Johnson Regional Medical Center received the Door to Needle Award from AR SAVES Program at the eighth annual conference in Hot Springs, Arkansas on May 11, 2017. This award represents the program's highest honor for achieving the fastest stroke treatment process of 51 participating hospitals in 2016, meaning JRMC emergency stroke patients received diagnosis and treatment faster than any other AR SAVES site. Johnson Regional Medical Center's door-to-needle time was a remarkable 38 minutes (compared to the 60 minute national standard of treatment).
Led by UAMS, AR SAVES (Stroke Assistance through Virtual Emergency Support) is a telemedicine program that links emergency room doctors to a stroke neurologist via a live, two-way video 24-hours a day to ensure that patients can receive the time sensitive care required for a good outcome.
